We are seeking an Operations Manager for our academic language editing and publication support services. This role will involve talent selection, overseeing training and onboarding, managing performance and engagement, overseeing day-to-day editorial workflows, optimizing processes, ensuring quality standards are met, and driving efficiency. Role & responsibilities: : 1. Team Recruitment & Management Hire and oversee training of a team of editors, QC specialists, and support staff. Establish clear performance metrics and KPIs. Ensure new hires meet quality and productivity standards. Develop a talent pipeline for scaling operations as needed. 2. Managing Team Performance and Engagement Set up systems and processes for managing editor performance and ensuring engagement. Define goals and KPIs and support the team in meeting and exceeding them. Provide support to the team and resolve conflicts. 3. Process Optimization & Workflow Management Oversee day-to-day editorial workflows, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery. Employ automation tools and implement process improvements to improve quality and enhance productivity. Monitor turnaround times, resource allocation, and workload distribution. Optimize workflows to balance speed, quality, and cost-effectiveness. 4. Quality Assurance & Client Satisfaction Ensure the team exceeds established quality standards. Develop a continuous improvement framework based on client feedback and performance analysis. Establish protocols for handling escalations and reworks efficiently. 5. Collaboration & Stakeholder Management Maintain clear and effective communication channels across functions. Work closely with support teams to meet operational needs. Provide regular reports and updates on performance and key challenges. Preferred candidate profile Bachelors/Masters degree. 5+ years of experience in operations management, preferably in academic publishing, editorial services, or content. Proven experience in change management and process improvements is a strong advantage. Experience managing large editorial teams and optimizing workflows for efficiency. Familiarity with academic writing, manuscript editing, and journal publication processes is preferred. People Management: Experience in hiring, training, and managing a high-performing team. Operations Leadership: Ability to set up, scale, and optimize editorial operations. Process Improvement: Strong analytical skills to enhance workflow efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Customer and Quality Focus: Understanding of client expectations and editorial quality assurance. Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with manuscript tracking systems, editing tools, and project management platforms.
