Job Purpose The Commercial Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing the commercial functions of oil and gas blocks under various fiscal regimes such as Production Sharing Contracts (PSC) and Revenue Sharing Contracts (RSC). The role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical capabilities to support commercial decision-making, ensure compliance, and manage stakeholder communications. Key Responsibilities Contractual Compliance Ensure adherence to the terms and obligations of PSCs, RSCs, and Joint Operating Agreements (JOA) with joint venture partners. Monitor and interpret fiscal obligations and ensure company compliance with relevant government and partner agreements. Commercial and Economic Analysis Conduct detailed economic evaluations and scenario analysis to support investment decisions. Advise management and technical teams on commercial implications of various alternatives. Regulatory and Partner Reporting Coordinate and prepare reports for submission to the Government of India, Government of Assam, and JV partners. Ensure timely and accurate communication as per contractual and regulatory requirements. Commercial Agreement Management Draft, negotiate, and manage commercial agreements for the sale of crude oil, condensate, and natural gas. Handle agreements with third-party service providers for transportation and processing of hydrocarbons. Committee Coordination Organize and coordinate Operating Committee Meetings (OCM) and Management Committee Meetings (MCM). Record and circulate minutes, ensuring follow-up on decisions taken. New Business Development Evaluate new business opportunities through economic modeling and strategic fit analysis. Assess bidding conditions and align with company policies for potential acquisitions or partnerships. Insurance Management Liaise with insurance brokers and underwriters to ensure appropriate coverage of company assets and operations. Maintain proper documentation and support for claims and policy renewals. Procurement Support Assist the procurement team in ensuring compliance with PSC procurement guidelines and policies. Provide commercial input in vendor evaluations and tender processes. Production and Sales Reconciliation Perform quantitative reconciliations between production and sales volumes for crude oil and condensate. Maintain accurate records for audit and statutory reporting purposes. Statutory and Contractual Compliance Fulfill all statutory and contractual obligations related to hydrocarbon production and sales. Ensure documentation is maintained and easily retrievable. Document Management Maintain systematic physical and digital records of commercial documents, contracts, and reports. Implement best practices in document control and retrieval. Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (or any other engineering discipline) or a Master’s degree in Science. MBA (preferably with a focus in Finance, Strategy, or Energy Management) from a reputed institute. Experience: 8 to 12 years of experience in commercial or marketing functions in the oil and gas or energy sector. Skills and Competencies: Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint. Strong analytical and quantitative skills. Excellent communication skills in English – both oral and written. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management abilities. High level of initiative, creativity, and problem-solving mindset. Passion for learning and continuous improvement. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team. Qualifications Strong skills in Commercial Management and Business Planning with a proven ability to achieve financial and operational targets Proficient in Contract Management, including negotiation, compliance, and risk assessment Exceptional Analytical Skills for financial analysis, market evaluation, and decision-making Demonstrated Team Management experience with the ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams effectively Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities Prior experience in the Oil & Gas industry is preferred Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus
