Network Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Network & Security Operations

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot

  Firewalls (Fortigate / Sophos)

  including:
• Interfaces, routing, NAT, and security policies
• VPNs (SSL VPN, Site-to-Site VPN)
• UTM features such as Web Filtering, Application Control, and IPS
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot

  Switches

  , including:
• VLANs, trunking, VLAN interfaces
• Routing, DHCP, port security, and spanning tree protocols
• Manage and support

  Routers

  , including:
• Static and dynamic routing
• Routing protocols such as

  OSPF and BGP

• Configure and support

  wireless access points and wireless controllers

• Understand and manage different types of

  internet connectivity and configurations

Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Optimization

• Monitor network performance using tools such as

  Wireshark, Nagios, and SolarWinds

• Perform network troubleshooting to isolate, diagnose, and resolve common and complex network issues
• Proactively suggest and implement improvements to network performance, capacity, scalability, and reliability

Cloud & Security

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of

  cloud networking and security

  in:
• Microsoft Azure
• Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Knowledge of

  WAF (Web Application Firewall)

  solutions is an added advantage

IT Service Management & Compliance

• Familiarity with

  ITIL processes

  , including change management, incident management, problem management, and service requests
• Document network configurations, procedures, and best practices to ensure consistency and compliance with industry standards

General Responsibilities

• Maintain and regularly update network configuration documents
• Maintain IT assets, software licenses, and subscriptions
• Coordinate with vendors and manage external support engagements
• Ensure adherence to

  SLAs

  and perform timely escalations when required
• Log and manage incidents, service requests, and change requests in the helpdesk tool
• Provide

  after-hours support

  during emergencies and perform occasional weekend maintenance activities

Required Skills & Competencies

• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Proven experience as a

  Network Administrator, Network Technician, or similar role

• Strong knowledge of

  Routing, Switching, Firewalls, and Wireless networks

• Good reporting and documentation skills
• Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities
• Very good verbal and written communication skills.
