Role Description The Senior Plant Breeder - Cucurbits will be responsible for developing, testing, and refining improved hybrid varieties of cucurbit crops to meet the agricultural market demands. Day-to-day tasks include planning and implementing breeding programs, maintaining genetic purity, generating high-performing hybrids, and analyzing trial data. The candidate will collaborate with R&D teams, oversee field trials, and remain updated on global trends in plant breeding. This is a full-time, on-site role located around Pune. Qualifications Strong expertise in Plant Breeding, Genetics, and Hybrid Seed Production Experience in Field Management, Data Analysis, and Trial Monitoring Familiarity with Cucurbit Crop Breeding, including germplasm management Proficiency in using Statistical Tools and Techniques for Data Interpretation Effective Communication and Collaboration skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Plant Breeding, Genetics, or an equivalent discipline Prior experience of more than 5 years in a similar role within the seed industry is a strong advantage Innovative problem-solving abilities and commitment to continuous learning
