Product Planning and Development

• Analyze market trends, customer preferences, and seasonal demand.
• Plan product ranges and assortments in line with company strategy.
• Coordinate with design, production, and buying teams to develop new collections or product lines.
• Ensure product designs meet target cost, quality, and delivery standards.

2. Forecasting and Budgeting

• Prepare sales forecasts and merchandise plans by category or season.
• Set and monitor budgets for stock levels, pricing, and margins.
• Analyze past sales data to predict future performance and avoid overstock or stockouts.

3. Vendor and Supplier Management

• Source and select reliable suppliers and manufacturers.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
• Monitor supplier performance to ensure timely and quality production.

4. Production Follow-Up (for manufacturing/garment merchandisers)

• Coordinate sample development and approvals (fit, color, fabric).
• Track production progress to meet shipment deadlines.
• Communicate regularly with factories and logistics teams for updates.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with buyer standards.

5. Inventory and Stock Management

• Maintain optimal stock levels across stores or warehouses.
• Implement replenishment systems based on sales velocity.
• Manage markdowns, promotions, and product lifecycle to maximize profitability.

6. Sales and Performance Analysis

• Review sales data, sell-through rates, and margins.
• Identify fast and slow-moving items and take corrective actions.
• Prepare periodic performance reports for management.

7. Cross-Department Coordination

• Act as a communication link between buyers, suppliers, and stores.
• Work with marketing for promotional planning.
• Collaborate with logistics and finance teams to ensure smooth operations.
