Role Overview
The Medical Writer plays a pivotal role in the development of high-quality scientific content tailored for healthcare professionals, medical affairs teams, and other stakeholders
This role requires a strong foundation in medical science, excellent writing skills, and the ability to translate complex data into clear, engaging, and accurate communication materials The Medical Writer will be responsible for content development across a range of deliverables and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including editorial, design, client services, and project management
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Content Development
Lead the creation of scientifically accurate, engaging, and compliant content including slide decks, manuscripts, advisory board reports, training modules, and digital assets
Interpret and synthesize data from clinical trials, publications, and regulatory documents
Ensure content adheres to client objectives, brand guidelines, and relevant compliance standards (eg GPP, ICMJE)
Review and edit content for clarity, consistency, scientific accuracy, and tone
Client & Stakeholder Collaboration
Participate in client meetings to understand project goals and provide scientific input
Present content strategy and scientific messaging to clients and internal stakeholders
Build strong relationships with medical affairs teams, KOLs, and subject matter experts
Project Management & Quality Assurance
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality output
Collaborate with project managers to define timelines, scope, and resource needs
Maintain version control and documentation for all content developed
Strategic Input & Innovation
Contribute to content strategy and planning for new and existing clients
Stay updated on therapeutic area developments, industry trends, and publication standards
Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, pitches, and sample content
Qualifications & Experience
Advanced degree in life sciences or equivalent (PhD, MD, PharmD preferred)
Minimum 5+ years of experience in medical writing within a medical communications agency or pharmaceutical company
Medical Writing & Editing Course from a reputed university will be an added advantage
Strong understanding of clinical research, drug development, and medical affairs
Proven ability to write for diverse audiences including HCPs, patients, and internal stakeholders
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills
Experience of working in different therapeutic areas
Knowledge of digital content formats and platforms
Exposure to publication planning and scientific congress support
Understanding of global compliance and regulatory standards
