Medical Representative

Role & responsibilities

. Doctor Coverage & Relationship Management

• Visit ophthalmologists, eye surgeons, optometrists, and eye hospitals on a regular schedule.
  
• Build strong professional relationships with doctors and clinic staff.
  
• Promote companys ophthalmic products (drops, ointments, surgical consumables, etc.).
  
• Ensure brand recall through consistent follow-up and product detailing.
  

2. Product Promotion

• Present product features, benefits, clinical data, indications, and usage guidelines.
  
• Demonstrate product samples and explain how they benefit patient outcomes.
  
• Answer doctor queries related to ophthalmic therapies.
  

3. Prescription Generation

• Achieve monthly and quarterly sales targets.
  
• Increase prescription share for the assigned ophthalmic brands.
  
• Track competitor prescriptions and work on improving brand preference.
  

4. Territory Management

• Manage assigned territory (clinics, eye hospitals, optical centers).
  
• Create a route plan and ensure efficient daily field work.
  
• Identify new potential doctors and convert them into prescribers.
  

5. Sales & Reporting

• Maintain daily call reports (DCR), doctor coverage reports, and sales data.
  
• Update CRM or company portal with visit details.
  
• Share weekly and monthly performance reports with the manager.
  

6. Market & Competitor Analysis

• Monitor competitor brands, new product launches, and market trends.
  
• Give feedback to marketing and sales teams for strategy improvement.
  

7. Coordination with Stockists & Chemists

• Ensure product availability at chemists and distributors.
  
• Follow up on billing, stock movement, and product visibility.
  
• Handle primary and secondary sales.
  

8. Product Training & CME Activities

• Conduct doctor meetings, CME programs, and product awareness sessions.
  
• Participate in conferences and ophthalmic events.
  

9. Compliance & Ethics

• Follow company guidelines, medical ethics, and regulatory requirements.
  
• Ensure transparent communication during doctor interactions.
