Roles and Responsibilities 1. Clinical Care & Patient Management Evaluate, diagnose, and treat cancer patients using chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, biological therapy, and targeted therapy. Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient diagnosis, medical history, and clinical guidelines. Monitor patient progress during and after treatment, and adjust therapies as required. Coordinate with surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and palliative care teams for comprehensive care. Provide supportive care and manage side effects and complications of cancer treatment. 2. Multidisciplinary Team Coordination Participate actively in tumor boards and interdisciplinary case discussions. Collaborate with radiologists, pathologists, surgeons, and other specialists for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Lead or participate in multi-specialty clinics, especially for complex cases. 3. Patient Education & Counseling Explain diagnosis, treatment options, risks, and expected outcomes to patients and their families. Counsel patients on prognosis, treatment adherence, and lifestyle modifications. Address psychosocial aspects and provide emotional support. 4. Clinical Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate and updated patient records in EMR/HIS systems as per NABH/JCI standards. Document treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries timely and accurately. Prepare case summaries and reports for audits, quality control, and medico-legal purposes. 5. Research & Continuing Medical Education (CME) Participate in clinical trials, cancer registries, and academic research projects. Stay updated with the latest advancements and evidence-based practices in oncology. Contribute to medical publications, conferences, and internal training sessions. 6. Compliance & Quality Assurance Follow hospital protocols, ethical standards, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., DCI, MCI/NMC, NABH, ICMR). Ensure proper use of chemotherapy drugs and adherence to infection control protocols. Participate in internal quality audits and mortality/morbidity meetings. Desired Candidate Profile Qualification : DM/DNB in Medical Oncology from a recognized institution. Experience : 0-3 years of post-DM/DNB experience in a tertiary care hospital or cancer center. Freshers can also apply Skills : Strong clinical acumen, patient-centered approach, teamwork, communication, and empathy. Registrations : Valid registration with the Medical Council of India or State Medical Council.
