Job Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer – Waste Management is responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing mechanical systems used in the collection, treatment, recycling, and disposal of industrial and municipal waste. The role ensures smooth operation of waste handling equipment, supports environmental compliance, and contributes to sustainable waste management practices.

Key Responsibilities:1. Equipment Design & Maintenance

  • Design, install, and maintain mechanical systems for waste segregation, shredding, compacting, and recycling.
  • Oversee operation and maintenance of equipment such as conveyors, crushers, incinerators, and balers.
  • Monitor performance and efficiency of machinery used in waste treatment (e.g., ETP/STP support systems, pumps, blowers, and compressors).
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance to ensure zero downtime.

2. Waste Handling & Process Optimization

  • Develop mechanical solutions for efficient waste collection, transportation, and storage.
  • Collaborate with chemical and environmental engineers to improve treatment plant efficiency.
  • Support process optimization to reduce equipment energy consumption and improve throughput.
  • Implement automation and mechanical improvements for better waste segregation and material recovery.

3. Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with Pollution Control Board standards and waste management laws.
  • Maintain records of equipment operation, maintenance schedules, and safety checks.
  • Conduct safety audits and enforce mechanical safety standards.
  • Ensure proper calibration and functioning of mechanical components in treatment facilities.

4. Sustainability & Innovation

  • Support projects related to waste-to-energy conversion, composting, and recycling.
  • Identify opportunities for mechanical innovation in waste minimization and resource recovery.
  • Participate in environmental sustainability programs and efficiency improvement initiatives.

5. Vendor & Team Coordination

  • Coordinate with external vendors for procurement, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  • Supervise technicians and operators handling mechanical systems in waste facilities.
  • Train team members on machinery operation, safety procedures, and troubleshooting.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience: 3–8 years in mechanical maintenance, waste management systems, or plant operations.
  • Knowledge:
  • Mechanical design and maintenance principles.
  • Waste processing and handling equipment.
  • ETP/STP mechanical systems and pollution control machinery.
  • Preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for mechanical design.
  • Excellent understanding of pumps, compressors, blowers, and piping systems.
  • Good coordination and project management ability.
  • Awareness of environmental and safety standards.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
