ExxonMobil is seeking qualified and experienced individuals to provide material engineering technical support to capital projects and operating assets. The candidate would be part of ExxonMobil's Materials Engineering EMSTPL, working out of ExxonMobil's Bengaluru Campus (Prestige Shantiniketan) in India. The candidate would be responsible for working with multi-discipline teams to provide materials and corrosion engineering solutions to improve the integrity performance of our existing operating assets and fit for purpose material selection solutions for projects. 

What you will do:

  • Select materials for routine applications including establishing appropriate materials specifications and QA/QC practices under senior engineers guidance.
  • Review H&MBs, PFDs, UFDs, and P&IDs to assist with materials selection.
  • Use common corrosion prediction models, perform basic corrosion calculations, and use corrosion design curves as support to material selection optimization.
  • Develop or review materials design basis or material selection philosophy and optimize or right size design expectations and specifications that contractors/vendors shall implement.
  • Participate in the development of a specification for the procurement of new equipment.
  • Assess and provided recommendations to resolve issues related to materials degradation at operating facilities.
  • Perform a failure analysis for a problem involving metallurgical deficiency or a change in material properties.
  • Participates in global and site-wide programs aimed at improving unit reliability and optimizing maintenance.
  • Develop and implement new technology and innovative solutions to non-routine problems.
  • Provide corrosion expertise in the development of fit for purpose equipment strategies and integrity operating windows involving higher complex corrosion mechanisms.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and improve integrity management systems for new projects and existing operations includes consideration of corrosion management equipment/systems, process surveillance, and monitoring/inspections.
  • Application of fitness for service (FFS) methods to pipelines, static equipment and related systems for assessment of corrosion, cracks and other damages.
  • Facilitate medium to high complexity reliability investigations, requiring advanced root cause and troubleshooting techniques.

About You

Skills and Qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree from a recognized university in Materials Science, Materials/Metallurgy Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience as Materials and Corrosion Engineer or Materials Integrity Engineer or similar role in the oil & gas industry.
  • Demonstrated work experience and knowledge in materials selection, corrosion assessment/control, welding/fabrication, and inspection/testing in support of facilities design and operating asset. 

Preferred Qualifications/Experiences

  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence with operations and engineering personnel who is directly supporting active sites.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Work shift is normally in the afternoon shift (01:30 pm to 10:30 pm) with flexibility to meet business needs.
  • Flexibility to both travel internationally and support sites remotely as per business need.
