Job Description

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Operations team at Guy Carpenter. This role will be based in Mumbai. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Manager – Transactional Services

We’re seeking a Manager - Transactional Services (Individual Contributor). This role offers a comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end lifecycle of reinsurance broking, along with opportunities to enhance both knowledge and leadership skills. You will play a key role in leading change management initiatives as teams transition to new systems and processes. In the first 30 days, you are expected to gain in-depth knowledge of your service area and role requirements; by 60 days, achieve process and system competency; and by 90 days, be prepared to technically lead the team and serve as the main point of contact for technical escalations and process improvements. Additionally, you will lead discussions and build strong relationships with clients, re-insurers, business units, and placing brokers.

We will count on you to:

Technical Development:

  • Liasoning with Clients/ Markets to resolve Technical & accounting queries
  • Liasioning with Brokers to get the signed Slips/other documents for Treaties placed
  • Maintain Close contact with Indian clients/Reinsurer to ensure smooth operations of Treaty Business
  • Assist Finance /Compliance in Internal audits as also in the IRDA audit queries
  • Scheduling regular meetings with Clients / Indian Reinsurers to ensure smooth Operations for Treaty
  • Creating Premiums transactions & generate closing instructions
  • Setting up Risks on oPen Twins
  • Provide insights into complex technical jargons and clarify procedures
  • Lead authorization/sign off and approvals on technical reports and documentation
  • Drive complex account/portfolio with a proper account notes / memo highlighting servicing methodology and key concepts/protocols followed for business continuity.
  • Drive legacy issues and ensuring minimal / zero balances appearing above 15+ days ageing.
  • Risk & Compliance:
  • Ensure Compliance adherence to internal and external regulators guidelines
  • Participate in Internal/External audits at Team Level and ensure team adherence to various compliances mandates

What you need to have:

  • Experience of Re-Insurance Accounting in London Market, Asian market OR US Market.
  • Act as a mentor and coach to develop team colleagues; build passion and commitment towards team, department and organisational goals
  • Positive attitude, willingness to offer and execute ideas and solutions to enhance processes within a changing environment
  • Know-how of markets/legislations/regulators/procedures governing our business
  • Technical aptitude, analytical skills and ability to acquire subject matter expertise on existing and new processes
  • Well-read and updated on recent developments and happenings impacting our business
  • Able to engage, influence and negotiate with Clients, Markets and Colleagues in a professional manner.
  • Consistently provide guidance by mentoring and/or training Colleagues.
  • Consistently deliver superior Client service.
  • Strong ability to successfully manage workload considerate to varying demands to manage expectations of all Customers and Stakeholders
  • Proven track record with delivery of change, including but not limited to process and people impacts and process improvement to enhance the provision of service
  • Act as a role model by example, attitude and displaying of consistent behavior committed to a ‘can do’ culture.
  • Graduate (Commerce preferable)
  • 8+ years of experience in insurance / Re-insurance broking in the operations / financial sectors
  • Should have undertaken the responsibility of coaching / mentoring technical experts
  • In -depth knowledge of Reinsurance concepts, Market systems, general business trends, financial and regulatory impacts on the organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
