We have been mandated by a large conglomerate for the below mentioned position. Position Title: Sr. Manager /Manager - Environment Location: Chaibasa Qualification M.Sc. -Environment Exp: 13+ Job Purpose: He will be responsible for overseeing the environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and leading initiatives to minimize environmental impact at the steel plant. This role involves ensuring sustainable practices, monitoring air, water, and soil quality, managing waste disposal, and implementing strategies to reduce emissions, water consumption, and energy usage. Key Responsibilities: 1. Environmental Compliance & Reporting : o Ensure the plants operations comply with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and standards (e.g., air quality, water usage, waste disposal). o Monitor and prepare environmental compliance reports for regulatory agencies. o Liaise with government bodies and environmental agencies to ensure adherence to environmental laws. 2. Environmental Impact Management : o Oversee environmental audits and implement corrective actions to address non-compliance issues. o Monitor emissions, effluents, and other environmental parameters, ensuring they remain within permissible limits. o Develop and execute environmental management plans to minimize negative impacts on air, water, and land resources. 3. Sustainability Initiatives : o Implement energy-saving measures and strategies to reduce carbon footprints and resource consumption. o Promote waste reduction strategies, including recycling and efficient waste management practices. o Develop and track sustainability metrics related to energy, waste, and emissions reduction. 4. Training & Awareness: o Conduct regular environmental training programs for plant staff to ensure awareness of environmental policies and best practices. o Ensure that all employees understand their roles in environmental protection and safety. 5. Environmental Risk Management: o Identify environmental risks and propose mitigation strategies to minimize environmental hazards. o Lead the preparation for environmental inspections and ensure the plant is prepared for emergencies, including spill response or pollution control. 6. Waste Management: o Develop, implement, and monitor waste management systems, ensuring the safe disposal of industrial and hazardous waste. o Investigate and recommend solutions for waste reduction and recycling. 7. Documentation & Record-Keeping: o Maintain detailed records of environmental inspections, audits, incidents, and corrective actions. o Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 or other environmental management system (EMS) standards.
