Interested candidates can call at 9519701631 Job Title: Agronomist - Fodder Cultivation and Procurement Specialist Location: Bareilly Department: Agricultural Operations / Dairy Farm Management Reports To: Dairy Farm Head Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Agronomist with a specialization in fodder cultivation and procurement through contract farming. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring a consistent and high-quality supply of fodder for our mega dairy farm project. This role involves managing fodder cultivation, developing and maintaining relationships with contract farmers, and ensuring that procurement processes meet the farm's requirements. The fodder has to be made into silage so as to ensure year around supply of fodder/silage to the dairy animals. Key Responsibilities: Fodder Cultivation Management: Develop and implement effective cultivation strategies for various types of fodder, ensuring high yield and quality. Monitor and manage all aspects of fodder production, including soil health, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and harvesting. Conduct regular field assessments to ensure optimal growing conditions and address any issues that may affect fodder quality or yield. Contract Farming Management: Identify, evaluate, and establish partnerships with local farmers for contract fodder cultivation. Negotiate contract terms, including pricing, quantities, and delivery schedules, ensuring alignment with the farm's operational needs. Provide technical guidance and support to contract farmers to ensure compliance with the farms quality standards and production practices. Procurement and Supply Chain Coordination: Develop and maintain a reliable supply chain for the procurement of fodder, ensuring timely delivery to meet the farms feeding schedules. Coordinate with logistics teams to manage the transportation and storage of fodder, ensuring minimal losses and maintaining fodder quality. Monitor and manage fodder inventory levels, making adjustments to procurement strategies as needed. Silage or Hay Making: Make silage of various crops to ensure optimum animal nutrition. Make hay out of various crops to ensure availability of proper nutrition to dairy animals. Research and Innovation: Stay updated on the latest research and developments in fodder cultivation, and apply innovative practices to improve efficiency and sustainability. Collaborate with research institutions, extension services, and other stakeholders to explore new fodder varieties, cultivation techniques, and technologies. Compliance and Reporting: Ensure all fodder cultivation and procurement activities comply with local agricultural regulations and environmental standards. Prepare and present regular reports on fodder production, procurement status, and cost analyses to the management team. Team Collaboration and Training: Work closely with other departments, including dairy operations, finance, and logistics, to ensure seamless integration of fodder supply into the overall farm operations. Provide training and capacity-building programs for contract farmers and farm staff on best practices in fodder cultivation and management. Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in fodder cultivation, contract farming, and procurement, preferably in a large-scale agricultural or dairy farm setting. Strong knowledge of fodder crops, soil management, pest control, and sustainable agricultural practices. Proven experience in managing contract farming relationships and supply chain operations. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Proficiency in using agricultural software and tools for farm management and reporting.
