1. Leadership & Team Management Lead, supervise, and mentor the maintenance team, ensuring high standards of performance, safety, and professionalism. Develop and implement performance management systems to evaluate team performance, identify training needs, and foster skill development. Ensure that the team is adequately staffed, trained, and resourced to meet the demands of daily operations, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs. 2. Maintenance Operations Management Oversee and manage all aspects of hospital facility maintenance, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, medical gas systems, backup power, and fire protection systems. Implement and manage a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to minimize system failures and downtime. Manage the execution of corrective maintenance and troubleshooting activities, ensuring efficient and cost-effective solutions. Prioritize maintenance tasks based on urgency and impact on hospital operations, balancing scheduled work and emergency repairs. 3. Strategic Planning & Budget Management Develop, implement, and review the long-term maintenance strategy for the hospital, aligning with hospital goals, patient care requirements, and operational objectives. Manage the maintenance department’s budget, ensuring that expenditures align with financial goals. Monitor and control costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement measures to improve operational efficiency. Ensure that the department remains within budget while maintaining high standards of service delivery. 4. Compliance & Safety Ensure the hospital’s maintenance activities comply with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including fire safety, electrical codes, and environmental health standards. Ensure that maintenance activities adhere to industry best practices and hospital policies for safety, reliability, and environmental sustainability. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, providing recommendations for improvements and ensuring timely corrective actions are taken. 5. Equipment & Systems Management Oversee the efficient operation of critical hospital systems, including medical gas systems, emergency power, fire protection, and water treatment. Ensure that all hospital equipment is well-maintained and meets quality standards. Collaborate with vendors and contractors for major repairs, system upgrades, and equipment procurement. 6. Collaboration & Cross-Departmental Support Work closely with hospital departments to ensure that maintenance activities do not disrupt patient care and hospital operations. Collaborate with other departments, including IT, clinical services, and administration, to ensure seamless integration of systems and identify areas for improvement. Provide expert advice and support to hospital leadership on infrastructure planning, risk management, and emergency preparedness. 7. Reporting & Documentation Prepare regular reports on the status of maintenance activities, system performance, and project progress for senior management. Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, upgrades, inspections, and inventory management. Implement data-driven reporting systems to measure performance and track key metrics related to equipment uptime, maintenance costs, and resource allocation. 8. Continuous Improvement & Innovation Stay current with the latest industry trends, technology, and best practices in facility maintenance and management. Identify opportunities for process improvements, innovation, and automation to enhance maintenance operations and reduce downtime. Lead initiatives to improve sustainability and energy efficiency in hospital systems and facilities.
