Mainframe Developer - COBOL/JCL

About The Job

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of mainframe developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
• Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of mainframe applications using COBOL and JCL.
• Manage source code and change management using tools like Endevor or IDZee, and Harvest or Gitlab.
• Schedule and monitor batch jobs using job schedulers such as ESP or Control M.
• Interact with and manage databases, specifically IMS DB and DB2, to ensure data integrity and application functionality.
• Collaborate with business analysts and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Ensure the team follows best practices for coding, testing, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  

Required Skills And Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 8-10 years of experience in mainframe development and support.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in leading and managing a technical team.
• Proficiency in COBOL and JCL.
• Experience with source control management tools like Endevor, IDZee, Harvest, or Gitlab.
• Hands-on experience with job scheduling tools such as ESP or Control M.
• In-depth knowledge of IMS DB and DB2 databases.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
