Designation: VMC Programmer Core Responsibilities: Creating, modifying, and optimizing CNC programs for VMC machines using CAD/CAM software and G-code/M-code. Reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements. Choosing the correct cutting tools and tooling setups for specific machining operations. Setting up the VMC machine, including tool offsets, work holding, and other parameters, and then operating the machine to produce parts. Monitoring machine operations, conducting in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments, and ensuring parts meet specified quality standards. Diagnosing and resolving issues with the CNC program, machine operation, or tooling. Performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on the VMC machine and related equipment. Working with engineers, machinists, and other team members to ensure smooth production and resolve any machining-related problems. Specific Tasks: · Developing CNC programs from scratch or modifying existing ones. · Verifying machine settings and program control data for accuracy. · Post 3D programs through programming software to the machine. · Setting controls and regulating speed, feed, coolant flow, and angle of cut. · Performing test runs and adjusting optimize machine performance. · Conducting daily machine reports and documentation. · Adhering to safety standards and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. · Documenting production activities, including setup sheets, tooling lists, and inspection reports. Essential Skills: Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings. Proficiency in CNC programming languages (G-code, M-code) and experience with DELCAM software. Ability to set up and operate VMC machines effectively and safely. Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve machine and program issues. Knowledge of precision measuring instruments and quality control procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and other departments. A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is crucial for producing high-quality parts.
