Objectives/Purpose
Key Responsibilities:
Administer and maintain the Databricks platform, ensuring its availability, performance, and scalability.
Monitor cluster performance and perform system upgrades and patches.
Manage user access, permissions, and security settings within the Databricks environment.
Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and analysts to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Optimize data processing workflows, notebooks, and jobs for performance.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the Databricks platform.
Document and maintain administration processes and best practices.
Conduct training and provide support for Databricks users within the organization.
Implement and enforce data governance policies and standards within the Databricks environment.
Adopt and promote DevOps practices to automate and streamline platform management tasks.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of the Databricks platform.
Stay current with Databricks updates, new features, and best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
6+ years of proven experience working with Databricks, including platform administration.
Proficiency in SQL and experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark.
Strong understanding of data processing and analytics concepts.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with scripting and automation tools such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
Familiarity with other data engineering and analytics tools.
Experience in Agile development methodologies.
Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
Proven track record of successful Databricks administration and support.
Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code).
Ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives.
As an expert professional within the organization, you develop innovative solutions to complex problems aligned with organizational objectives. Your work involves addressing intricate issues, requiring in-depth analysis and judgment. You also engage with key contacts outside your expertise area and contribute to the development of new concepts and standards. Operating with considerable autonomy, you serve as a consultant to management and an external spokesperson on major matters, often working independently and leading function teams or projects. Additionally, you play a role in training and mentoring junior staff.
