Job Description

Summary: Linux System Administrator - Will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Linux servers. This role is crucial in supporting customers’ business by maximizing system uptime, optimizing performance and safeguarding data.

Education: BE/B. Tech/ bachelor’s or equivalent degree

Experience: 4+ years of experience in Linux administration.

Certifications: RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator) - Preferred

Knowledge:

1. Proficient in Linux distributions including Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS, and SUSE.

2. Hands-on experience with automation using Bash and Ansible scripting.

3. Working knowledge of container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

4. Strong understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, OS-level firewalls, and SE Linux.

5. Skilled in Linux storage management, including LVM, file systems, partitions, and storage devices.

6. Experienced in installing, updating, and managing packages and tools in Linux environments.

7. Familiar with private and public cloud platforms such as VMware, OpenStack, AWS, and GCP.

8. Knowledgeable in IT Service Management (ITSM) tools.

Skills:

1. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, essential for diagnosing and resolving moderately complex technical issues independently.

2. Effective written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear documentation, ticket updates, and collaboration with internal teams and end-users.

3. Detail-oriented approach, ensuring accuracy and quality in system configurations, incident handling, and service delivery.

Roles and Responsibilities

System Administration:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and systems, ensuring high availability and performance to minimize downtime and support business continuity.

Incident Management:

  • Respond to critical incidents, perform root cause analysis, and document resolutions to prevent recurrence.

Automation & Scripting:

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash and Ansible to streamline operations and improve efficiency.

Security & Compliance:

  • Implement security best practices, monitor system logs, and ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.

Performance Monitoring:

  • Utilize tools such as vROps, Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus to monitor system health and optimize resource utilization.

Documentation:

 Maintain up-to-date documentation of system configurations, procedures, and processes to support knowledge retention, regulatory compliance, and smooth team transitions.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with network, storage, application, and security teams to ensure system consistency, reliability, and availability.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Resolve escalated issues from L1 support, including system failures. Diagnose and resolve kernel, network, and storage issues, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities. Analyze logs proactively to detect and address potential system failures, ensuring seamless operations.
