Job Description

Job Summary

The Light Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and managing lighting equipment for various events such as corporate shows, concerts, weddings, exhibitions, and social functions. The role includes handling lighting consoles, fixtures, effects, and ensuring that all lighting elements run smoothly during rehearsals and the live event.

Key Responsibilities

1. Pre-Event Planning & Setup

  • Review event briefs, stage layouts, and lighting plans provided by the Lighting Designer or Production Manager.
  • Conduct site recce when required to understand venue lighting requirements and power availability.
  • Install, rig, and position lighting fixtures (LEDs, par cans, moving heads, profiles, dimmers, truss lighting, etc.).
  • Ensure safe cabling, power connections, and load distribution.
  • Test all lights, DMX lines, and effects equipment before the event.
  • Coordinate with the sound, video, and stage teams for integrated setup.

2. Event Operations

  • Operate lighting consoles (Avolites, MA, or others as required).
  • Program lighting cues, scenes, and sequences based on rehearsal needs.
  • Execute cues accurately during the live event.
  • Monitor lighting fixtures during the event and troubleshoot issues instantly.
  • Maintain communication with stage managers and show callers through comm systems.

3. Post-Event Responsibilities

  • Power down and safely dismantle lighting equipment.
  • Pack and label gear properly for transport back to warehouse.
  • Report any equipment damage, malfunction, or missing items.
  • Assist in inventory counting and maintenance.

Technical Skills Required

  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Lighting consoles (Avo/MA)
  • DMX addressing and patching
  • Moving heads, LED fixtures, beam/wash/profile lights
  • Dimmers, power distribution boxes, safety gear
  • Basic electrical knowledge and load management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot cabling, fixture faults, and console issues.

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and coordination.
  • Ability to work under pressure during live shows.
  • Quick problem-solving.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Flexibility with long working hours and travel.

Experience

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in event lighting operations.
  • Ability to handle corporate events, weddings, concerts, and outdoor shows.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
