Role Responsibilities

• Leading global engineering initiatives, owns design, development, and operational excellence of scalable APIs, frameworks, and integrations that improve customer outcomes and agent productivity. 
• Will build and manage a high-performing distributed team, drive DevOps/Agile practices, and shape long-term platform strategy.
• Represent the team in Leadership calls, Production and Essential Engineering calls
• Ability to lead a group of Developers in India and co-ordinate with Europe / Asia and US teams
• Participate in technical design and implementation to support the company's business and technical initiatives.
• Responsible for software design, user documentation, code review.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following software development best practices.
• Develop, maintain and enhance the automation framework with industry-standard automation tools and frameworks.
• Coordinate release activities with teams and drive the CI/CD of release with pipelines.
• Design and execute test plans, scenarios, and cases for End to End testing and Load & Performance testing 
• Participate in code reviews, providing feedback on code quality, maintainability, and testability.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of software development processes and methodologies.
• Stay current with the latest software development trends and technologies to drive innovation and improve eBay's software solutions.

Key Skills and Technologies

• Must-Have Skills: 8- 10 years in Strong API and Backend Software fundamentals; expertise in distributed systems.
• Java, Python, Spring Boot.
• SOA, SOAP, REST APIs, messaging (Kafka, Flink).
• Agile & DevOps (CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes, IaC, monitoring).
• Strong track record in building and scaling engineering teams, leading globally distributed teams, and delivering complex backend systems.
• Expertise required in object-oriented design methodology and application development in Java and J2EE, including Spring, Hibernate, servlets, JDBC, XML, XSL
• Validated experience in developing web services and RESTful APIs / micro services. Experience in OpenAPI framework and Automated Release Process
• Experience with automation testing tools and frameworks, such as Selenium, TestNG, Junit, JMeter, etc
• Experience with database and SQL, preferably Oracle. NOSQL experience is an added advantage.
• Domain Expertise: Strong expertise in distributed systems, backend engineering, customer support platforms, and enterprise-scale system integrations is required. Experience with customer support technologies (case/contact management, automation workflows, SaaS integrations) is highly preferred.
