Lead Software Engineer

Job Description

Whats the role? This role combines technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and collaborative teamwork to create impactful software solutions in a fast-paced, cutting-edge environment. Develop, extend, and maintain software products in an innovative and iteratively growing environment. Software development of application or system components. Investigation and root cause analysis of software and system defects. Maintain and run tools and processes that support and automate software product release. Understand the technical aspects of the products used to support the configuration management activities of the development process. Adapt configuration management tools for the complex needs of the development team or the management of the development process. Deploy the development artifacts to a staging area for release to production and enforce process compliance. Create and execute approved test plans, analyze and report results. Collaborate in a team environment across multiple research and engineering disciplines and make architectural trade-offs required to rapidly deliver software solutions. Who are you? Education: Bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or MIS. Experience: 7+ years in software development. Technical Skills: Proficient in Java/J2EE, Spring, Python, and XML. Strong front-end skills (JavaScript, CSS, HTML) and experience with AngularJS. Hands-on experience with MySQL, Postgres, or Oracle. Knowledge of Web Services, JSON, JUnit, PL/SQL, Maven, and AWS (preferred). Familiarity with Unix/Linux and version control tools (GIT, Subversion, etc.). Agile Practices: TDD, Pair Programming, Continuous Integration. Soft Skills: Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Self-driven, creative, and adaptable problem-solver. Preferred: Experience with GIS data, NoSQL (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB), Kubernetes, Docker, or Scala.
