Job Description

Job Characteristics:Leads software development projects through the phase gate process. Leads requirements gathering efforts of the RD&E software team to ensure that marketing and divisional needs are met. Manages interactions between RD&E and IT to ensure seamless project integration. Writes code to address challenging aspects of the project. Writes the standard documentation used to translate project needs into software design specifications. Assists in creating overall architecture for various software systems. Corrects challenging defects found through QA software testing and RD&E systems testing. Supports field test personnel after development with issues not addressed by software engineers in lower grades. Often supervises software engineers in lower grades. Oversees external contractors and consultants. Assists in defining the process by which software is designed and developed. Activities ensure that software development projects progress properly, and result in quality software that meets marketing and divisional expectations. Education/Work Experience:Degree or Advanced degree in Software Engineering or a related technical discipline. BS and 6+ years, MS and 4+ years or PhD and 2+ years related experience. Independence Level/Reports to:Leads or acts as a key technical contributor on projects of significant scope and complexity with very high impact on the business results. Normally reports into Project/Program leader or more Senior Technical Leader.
