Job Overview

HosTalky is an early-stage, founder-led HealthTech startup building a healthcare communication and AI-assisted platformdesigned around real clinical workflows. We work closely with pilot users including clinics, healthcare professionals, and partner groups to shape the product through real-world usage and feedback.

This role is for a hands-on, execution-driven engineer who wants to build meaningful systems, work closely with users, influence product direction, and grow into a technical leadership position through ownership and impact.

Role Summary

The Lead Product Engineer will act as a senior, hands-on builder responsible for executing core product and technical initiatives while gradually taking on technical leadership responsibilities. This is not a CTO role today, but a clear growth path toward technical leadership for someone who earns it through delivery and ownership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on development across backend, mobile, and product surfaces.
• Translate evolving business and clinical requirements into working software.
• Make pragmatic technical decisions balancing speed, stability, and learning.
• Write, review, and refactor production-quality code.
• Work directly with the founder to define priorities and execution plans.
• Coordinate with pilot users to understand workflows, feedback, and gaps.
• Convert pilot feedback into product and technical improvements.
• Collaborate with frontend, backend,and mobile contributors.
• Gradually establish engineering standards, best practices, and code quality.
• Support and mentor otherdevelopers as the team grows.

Success Metrics(6–12 Months)

• Core systems are more stable, reliable, and maintainable.
• Feature delivery is faster with fewer regressions.
• Pilot feedback loops are tight and actionable.
• Technical debt is controlled and intentional.
• Trusted ownership over key technical areas.

Required Qualifications

• 5–7 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on backend experience (Node.js or similar).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent).
• Experience designing APIs and working with NoSQL databases.
• Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, early-stage environments.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and ownership mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• HealthTech or regulated-industry experience.
• Experience with AI-powered features (transcription, summarization, assistants).
• Exposure to React, React Native, or Electron.
• Experience working with pilot or beta customers.
• Interest in long-term technical leadership growth.

What This Role Is Not

• Not a CTO role (at this stage).
• Not a pure people-management role.
• Not a slow-moving enterprise environment.
• Not a role limited to following pre-defined specifications.
