About This Role:
As a member of the Cloud Cost Operations team, you'll be instrumental in driving our FinOps program - providing critical cost visibility, driving financial accountability within our engineering organizations, identifying optimization opportunities, and conducting deep analysis across our cloud infrastructure and RD tooling. You will work cross-functionally with Business Unit leaders, Engineers, Finance, Procurement and external vendors, collaborating on data-driven spending decisions.
What you'll Do:
-
Monitor and Analyze Cloud Spend: Continuously monitor cloud expenditures across a multicloud environment (e. g. , AWS, Azure, GCP), identifying trends, anomalies, and areas for potential savings. Support engineering teams as a FinOps partner by providing clear visibility into cloud cost through analysis of consumption and planned infrastructure activities.
-
Drive Cost Optimization Initiatives: Work closely with engineering teams to identify and implement cost optimization strategies, including rightsizing instances, optimizing storage, and managing reserved instances/savings plans. Track the impact of these initiatives and report on savings achieved. Stay up to date on cloud offerings and technologies with an emphasis on how they can impact cost.
-
Forecasting and Budgeting Support: Collaborate with finance teams to budget, forecast, track and allocate costs, providing data-driven insights to inform financial planning.
-
Summarize Data and Provide Recommendations to Executives: Provide executive summaries and recommendations concerning cloud costs, tooling costs, optimizations, budgets and forecasts.
-
Develop and Maintain Reporting: Create and enhance automated reports and dashboards that provide stakeholders with actionable insights into cost and usage data.
-
Collaborate and Educate: Partner with engineering, finance, and procurement teams to foster a culture of cost awareness and accountability. Educate engineers on best practices for cloud cost management, efficient resource utilization, and prioritization of high-impact saving activities.
-
Cloud Vendor Management: Assist in evaluating cloud vendor billing and pricing models to ensure accuracy and identify potential cost efficiencies. Collaborate with cloud vendors to ensure teams are using resources efficiently and implementing best practices
-
Automate Cost Management Processes: Increase efficiency and automate workflows/tasks where possible.
-
RD Tooling Cost Management: Analyze spend on our RD tooling portfolio, identifying opportunities for license optimization, vendor consolidation, and efficient utilization. Work across multiple teams to understand software licensing requirements and collaborate with the procurement team on purchasing required software
