Lab technician

responsibilities

• Quality and safety testing: Conduct routine and specialized tests on raw ingredients, in-process materials, and final products to check for factors like nutrients, microbial contamination, and adherence to specifications.
• Sample and equipment preparation: Receive, prepare, and analyze samples. This also includes preparing reagents and solutions, and sterilizing and maintaining laboratory equipment.
• Data recording and analysis: Document all test results accurately in computer systems (like LIMS), analyze the data, and create reports, charts, and graphs.
• Regulatory compliance: Ensure all activities and products comply with food safety standards, industry regulations, and company protocols. This includes auditing paperwork, like HACCP records.
• Collaboration: Work with production teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions. Assist food scientists and technologists in research and development activities.
• Inventory and housekeeping: Manage and maintain laboratory supplies, keep the work area clean and organized, and ensure proper sanitation.
