Description
As a LAB Specialist - Metallurgy Lab at Sandvik, your role involves ensuring safe working practices as per Sandvik EHS policies and guidelines. You will be responsible for conducting metallurgical and physical testing conformance in all raw materials required for processes and parts produced in the foundry. Your key responsibilities include: - Ensuring safe working practices as per Sandvik EHS policies & guidelines - Conducting metallurgical and physical testing conformance in raw materials and processes - Testing and clearance for all incoming raw materials and bought outs - Performing melt sample analysis, physical/mechanical testing, microstructure analysis, sand analysis, and hardness testing - Liaising with third-party testing laboratories and vendors for material testing - Making decisions on HT batch clearances - Logging deviation/rework details associated with manufacturing orders - Participating in quality review meetings, RCA, corrective actions, and field failure analysis - Ensuring on-time calibration of equipment and maintenance of Metallurgical Laboratory equipment - Reviewing WI & SOP related to ME Lab and updating in AIMS System - Identifying, storing, and maintaining Metallurgy samples as per QMS standard - Ensuring QA, metallurgical, and physical testing conformance in all raw materials and parts produced in the foundry - Ensuring on-time completion of quality checks in Metallurgy and physical/mechanical testing as per specification Qualifications required for this role include a BSC Chemistry or Diploma in Metallurgy or relevant fields. You should have a minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in the Manufacturing Engineering Industry in Metallurgical analysis or Laboratory in a Production environment. In terms of behavioral competencies, you should possess good interpersonal and communication skills, analytical skills, be proactive, a team player, have a good understanding of EHS standards, hands-on experience in basic metallurgical instrument handling, exposure to ERP systems, and proficiency in operating MS Excel, MS Word, and Internet.
