Job Description

Position Summary:

The Kitchen Stewarding Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness, sanitation, and maintenance of all kitchen areas, equipment, utensils, and dishwashing operations. This position ensures that the highest standards of hygiene and safety are maintained in support of kitchen and food service operations. The role also includes supervising the stewarding team and coordinating with the culinary and food & beverage departments to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the stewarding team to ensure all kitchens and back-of-house areas are clean and organized.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of dishwashing machines and pot-washing areas.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment, utensils, and storage areas are properly cleaned, sanitized, and stored.
  • Monitor cleaning schedules for all kitchen areas (walls, floors, hoods, drains, etc.) and ensure completion as per standards.
  • Maintain inventory and control of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment; reorder as necessary.
  • Train, motivate, and guide stewarding staff in proper cleaning techniques, safety practices, and equipment handling.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Coordinate with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure equipment and utensils are available and in good condition.
  • Report and follow up on maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions.
  • Assist in waste management and recycling programs to maintain an environmentally responsible operation.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure hygiene and cleanliness standards are consistently met.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to operational improvements.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in hospitality management or kitchen operations preferred.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in stewarding, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, sanitation standards, and kitchen equipment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge (for inventory, scheduling, and reporting).

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed in kitchen and back-of-house areas.
  • Exposure to heat, humidity, cleaning chemicals, and noise.
  • Requires standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
  • Shift work, weekends, and holidays may be required depending on business needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
