A Port Operations Manager oversees all daily port activities, including vessel arrivals/departures, cargo loading/unloading, and storage. Their role involves managing staff, ensuring compliance with safety and regulations, coordinating with stakeholders, and optimizing efficiency and turnaround times. They also handle emergency situations and manage the maintenance of port equipment and infrastructure. Key Responsibilities: · Daily operations: Manage the smooth workflow of daily port operations, including scheduling, vessel traffic, and cargo handling. · Staff management: Lead, train, and evaluate port personnel and supervisors, fostering a safe and productive environment. · Safety and compliance: Ensure all operations adhere to safety, environmental, and maritime regulations and implement emergency response plans. · Coordination: Liaise with shipping lines, customs, logistics providers, port authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations. · Efficiency and improvement: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and analyse data to improve operational efficiency, reduce turnaround times, and minimize costs. · Equipment and infrastructure: Oversee the maintenance and repair of port equipment, machinery, and infrastructure to ensure functionality. · Problem-solving: Handle and resolve operational issues and emergency situations, such as accidents or cargo discrepancies. · Financial management: Contribute to budget management and monitor financial performance related to operations.
