Job Title : ETL Tester Job Description : ETL Tester (SQL + Azure Synapse + Agile) Role Overview We are seeking a skilled ETL Tester with strong SQL expertise to validate and ensure the accuracy of data migration from source to target systems. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of ETL testing principles, hands-on experience with writing complex SQL queries, and a decent understanding of the Azure ecosystem, specifically Azure Synapse. Additionally, the candidate must be actively involved in Agile ceremonies and follow best testing practices to support an efficient and high-quality data transformation process. Key Responsibilities ETL Testing & Data Validation : Write complex SQL queries to validate that source data has been accurately moved to the target database. Ensure data consistency, correctness, and completeness between different stages of ETL processing. Perform data reconciliation, transformation validation, and duplicate/missing record checks. Azure Synapse Testing : Work within an Azure Synapse environment to test data pipelines and transformations. Validate data processing, queries, and performance optimization within Azure Synapse. Ensure Synapse-based ETL workflows are functioning correctly and efficiently. Agile Testing & Collaboration : Be an active participant in Agile ceremonies like Sprint Planning, Stand-ups, Grooming, and Retrospectives. Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and product owners to define and refine acceptance criteria. Maintain a structured and standardized approach for test cases, documentation, and reporting. Test Strategy & Execution : Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts for ETL processes. Conduct functional, regression, and system integration testing for ETL workflows. Identify performance bottlenecks and provide recommendations for optimization. Defect Reporting & Root Cause Analysis : Identify, document, and track ETL defects with detailed analysis and evidence. Work closely with developers and data engineers to troubleshoot data inconsistencies and errors. Ensure defects are addressed in a timely manner while maintaining quality standards. Required Skills & Experience Strong SQL expertise with experience in writing complex queries, joins, aggregations, and performance tuning. Good understanding of ETL processes and experience with data validation, reconciliation, and transformation testing. Basic to intermediate knowledge of Azure Synapse and experience testing data within it. Experience working in Agile environments and participating in Agile ceremonies. Understanding of data warehousing concepts (star schema, snowflake schema, fact & dimension tables). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
