Who You Are:

This position will be a WFO role and you will be working closely with the team in the United States through video chat, instant messaging, e-mail, phone, and through our software. It is important that you have excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral. We are a fast-paced company that is expanding rapidly and we are seeking team members who will share our vision for the future and work collaboratively in order to accomplish Base8's goals. We pride ourselves on providing superior service to our clients, which includes having attention to detail, following the processes in place, and being able to adapt to a variety of situations.

  1. Server Health Monitoring

    1. Check all client servers to ensure they are running properly. 
    2. Review uptime, CPU, RAM, disk usage, and general server performance metrics. 
    3. Investigate and address any anomalies, system errors, or failed services. 
    4. Confirm all services (DNS, DHCP, AD, file services, etc.) are operational. 
  2. Backup Verification

    1. Verify daily backups for all servers using: 
      1. Veeam Backup & Replication

      2. Backblaze Backup

    2. Log backup success/failure status. 
    3. Immediately flag and initiate remediation steps for any failed or missed backups. 
  3. VIP Workstation Backups

    1. Maintain a documented list of VIP or high-priority users/devices that require separate backup schedules. 
    2. Ensure these devices are backed up successfully daily. 
    3. Document number of devices, backup type, frequency, and last backup date. 
  4. KB (Knowledge Base) Verification

    1. Ensure Knowledge Base (KB) articles for: 
      1. Basic server troubleshooting (for T3 techs during server team absence) 
      2. Backup restoration steps 
      3. Understanding how server backups work 
    2. Confirm articles are accessible, up to date, and clear. 
    3. Report missing or outdated documentation. 
  5. Resource Auditing

    1. Audit server resources: 
      1. Storage

      2. RAM

      3. CPU usage

    2. Identify under/over-utilized servers and recommend scaling or optimization. 
  6. Backup License Audit

    1. Audit backup software licenses: 
      1. Ensure Veeam and Backblaze licenses are valid, sufficient, and not nearing expiry. 
    2. Report any renewals or additional license needs in advance. 
  7. VIP Backup Review

    1. Review and update the list of VIPs needing extra backups. 
    2. Validate backup frequency and retention policies are still appropriate. 
    3. Confirm devices on the list are active and relevant. 
  8. Scheduled Maintenance

    1. Create and manage

      monthly scheduled tickets

       for: 
      1. Server OS updates/patching 
      2. Hardware health checks 
      3. Backup restoration test 
      4. Disk cleanup/log rotation tasks 
    2. Ensure all maintenance is logged and tickets are marked completed. 
  9. Documentation Maintenance

    1. Review and update: 
      1. Server configurations and architecture documentation 
      2. Backup strategies and data retention policies 
      3. Disaster recovery procedures 
    2. Validate and revise KB articles as needed. 
  10. Restore Testing

    1. Perform test restores from Veeam and Backblaze on a sample of servers to ensure backup integrity. 
    2. Document and report results. 
  • Assist T3 and other technical staff with complex server issues. 
  • Respond to server-related alerts or escalations. 
  • Conduct internal audits of backup and recovery readiness. 
  • Provide guidance or updates on best practices for server management and backup strategy. 
  • Participate in disaster recovery drills or incident response plans.
