Job Title : IT Manager Location: ACE Engineering College, Ghatkesar Job Overview The IT Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the technology infrastructure of the college, ensuring that all IT systems, networks, and services are functioning efficiently and securely. This role requires leadership in managing IT staff, addressing technical issues, implementing new technologies, and ensuring that the college community has reliable access to the IT resources they need. Key Responsibilities IT Infrastructure Management Network and System Administration : Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the college s network, including wired and wireless systems. Manage servers, data storage, and network security systems to ensure uptime, reliability, and data protection. Ensure that the campus is equipped with high-performing IT infrastructure to support administrative, academic, and research functions. Hardware Software Support : Maintain and support the colleges hardware, such as computers, printers, and classroom technologies. Install, configure, and maintain software applications used by students, faculty, and staff. Oversee software updates, patches, and security management across all systems. Data Management and Security : Ensure data security, including backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning. Monitor and implement security protocols to protect sensitive data, including student records and financial information. Enforce compliance with IT security standards and policies. Technical Support Service Desk Management Support for Faculty, Staff, and Students : Lead and manage the IT support team to provide timely and effective support for all technical issues. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity. Develop training resources and provide support for technology use in classrooms and administrative areas. Help Desk Ticket Management : Supervise the help desk operations and ensure that support tickets are managed and resolved promptly. Maintain knowledge of common issues and solutions to reduce resolution time for frequently encountered problems. Project Management IT Projects Initiatives : Lead IT-related projects such as software rollouts, hardware upgrades, and system migrations. Work closely with academic and administrative departments to implement new technologies that improve learning and operational efficiency. Plan and oversee the budget for IT projects, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently. Technology Implementation : Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions that enhance the educational experience and operational efficiency of the college. Implement tools and systems that improve collaboration, communication, and resource sharing among students, faculty, and staff. Strategic Planning Policy Development Technology Strategy : Assist in developing the college s IT strategy to align technology with the overall goals of the institution. Create and enforce IT policies and procedures regarding usage, security, and technology management. Vendor Contract Management : Manage relationships with external vendors for IT-related services, including software licensing, hardware purchasing, and third-party support. Ensure that vendors comply with service level agreements (SLAs) and contractual terms. Leadership Staff Management Team Leadership : Supervise and mentor the IT team, providing guidance, professional development, and performance evaluations. Foster a collaborative work environment to ensure the IT department works efficiently and effectively. Recruit, train, and onboard new staff as needed. Administrative Responsibilities Budgeting : Assist in the development and management of the IT department budget. Track expenditures and ensure that IT resources are used effectively within the allocated budget. Reporting : Provide regular updates to the leadership team regarding IT infrastructure, system performance, and support activities. Document and report on incidents, service requests, and resolution times. Qualifications Education : Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A master s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL) is a plus. Experience : 5+ years of experience in IT management, preferably in an academic or large-scale organizational environment. Previous experience leading IT teams, managing IT infrastructure, and handling complex technical issues. Certifications : Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or others are beneficial. IT security certifications like CISSP or CISM would be an added advantage. Skills and Competencies Technical Skills Languages Software Knowledge : Proficient in network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls). Expertise in operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and cloud-based technologies. Familiarity with virtualization tools (VMware, Hyper-V), database management (SQL, MySQL), and web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and educational technologies (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard). Experience with IT security tools, encryption, and antivirus software. Project Management : Proficient in using project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Trello). Experience with software deployment and systems integration. Soft Skills Leadership and Team Management : Strong leadership skills with experience managing technical teams. Ability to motivate, mentor, and develop team members. Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to communicate IT-related issues and solutions to both technical and non-technical individuals effectively. Problem-Solving : Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to address complex technical challenges. Time Management : Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environment.
