Job Description: Instrumentation Engineer (Maintenance)

Location: NMDC Steel Plant, Nagarnar, Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh
Qualification:

• Diploma in C&I (Control & Instrumentation) / EEE (Electrical & Electronics Engineering) / E&T (Electronics & Telecommunication)
• Minimum 3 years of relevant maintenance experience

Salary Range: ₹18,000 – ₹25,000 per month

Roles and Responsibilities1. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance

• Carry out preventive maintenance of field instruments such as transmitters, control valves, pressure/temperature sensors, analyzers, flow meters, level switches, etc.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot instrumentation faults during equipment breakdowns.
• Ensure minimum downtime and restore plant operations quickly.

2. Calibration & Testing

• Perform regular calibration of all critical instruments according to industry standards.
• Maintain calibration records and ensure instruments meet accuracy requirements.
• Test safety devices and interlocks to ensure proper functionality.

3. PLC / DCS System Handling

• Monitor and maintain PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems in the plant.
• Modify logic, upload/download programs (if permitted) and support automation engineers.
• Coordinate with vendors for system updates or repairs.

4. Field Instrument Installation & Commissioning

• Install new instruments as per project requirements.
• Conduct loop checking, signal testing, and commissioning of instrument systems.
• Ensure proper wiring, tubing, earthing, and panel termination.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain maintenance logs, calibration reports, job sheets, and shift reports.
• Assist in preparing SOPs, checklists, and maintenance schedules.
• Support audits like ISO, safety audits, and internal inspections.

6. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all maintenance work follows industrial safety standards.
• Conduct LOTO (Lock-Out-Tag-Out) procedures before working on equipment.
• Report unsafe conditions and follow plant safety protocols.

7. Spare Management & Coordination

• Check availability of spare parts and raise material requests if required.
• Coordinate with the electrical and mechanical maintenance departments.
• Support procurement activities for instrumentation items.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of field instruments used in steel plants or heavy industries.
• Understanding of P&IDs, loop diagrams, and wiring drawings.
• Ability to work under pressure during breakdowns.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹23,000.00 - ₹26,000.00 per month
