Job Title: Industrial Designer Department: Development Reports To: Technical Design Manager Job Summary The Industrial Designer is responsible for transforming innovative concepts into manufacturable products. This role bridges the gap between design creativity and practical engineering, supporting both new and existing customers with dynamic presentations, detailed renderings, and clear installation documentation. The ideal candidate brings a strong engineering background, exceptional proficiency in 3D CAD (preferably SolidWorks) and Adobe Creative Suite, and a keen eye for both aesthetics and functionality. Key Responsibilities Collaborative Design: Work closely with the Technical Design Manager and engineering teams to understand customer needs and project requirements. Presentation Development: Create engaging design decks, technical renderings, and quotation-level documents using SolidWorks, hand sketches, and 2D/3D creative tools. Visual Storytelling: Illustrate design concepts for diverse audiencesincluding designers, buyers, and sourcing professionals—to effectively communicate product vision. Rapid Problem Solving: Listen to project challenges and quickly produce visual aids to facilitate feedback and iterative improvement. Documentation: Prepare detailed installation instructions and technical guides for on-site personnel and installers. Cross-Functional Support: Assist both design and engineering teams to manage workloads and ensure cohesive project execution. Value Engineering: Evaluate existing products to identify cost-saving improvements without compromising functionality. Project Tracking: Utilize MRP systems and Microsoft Office tools to monitor project metrics and capacity management. Manufacturing Insight: Apply understanding of metal fabrication, wood processing, and plastic manufacturing to deliver designs that are both innovative and cost competitive. Qualifications Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Design Engineering, Product Design, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Minimum of 2 years’ experience in product design and manufacturing. Technical Skills: Proficient in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for modeling, rendering, and creating detailed design documentation. Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) to develop high-quality visual presentations. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately. Familiarity with MRP systems and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Personal Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail with a practical yet creative approach. Strong communication skills and ability to tell a compelling design story. Capacity to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams. Additional Requirements: Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. Valid driver’s license required.
