Job Description

The HR Manager in a hospital oversees all human resource functions, ensuring efficient staffing, compliance with healthcare regulations, employee welfare, and smooth administrative operations. This role supports clinical and non-clinical departments, helping maintain a safe, high-quality patient care environment through effective people management. Key Responsibilities 1. Recruitment & Staffing • Manage end-to-end recruitment for medical, nursing, paramedical, and administrative roles. • Coordinate manpower planning with department heads. • Conduct interviews, reference checks, and onboarding processes. • Ensure timely hiring to avoid staff shortages in critical departments. 2. Employee Relations & Engagement • Address employee grievances and maintain a positive work culture. • Conduct employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and retention initiatives. • Implement workplace safety and welfare practices. 3. Training & Development • Identify training needs specific to healthcare (clinical skills, patient care, safety protocols). • Organize orientation, CME programs, and competency development workshops. • Maintain training documentation as per accreditation standards (e.g., NABH/JCI). 4. Performance Management • Drive annual appraisal processes and KRA/KPI-based evaluations. • Support department heads in improving performance and handling disciplinary actions. • Maintain accurate performance documentation. 5. Compliance & HR Policies • Ensure compliance with all labor laws, hospital regulations, and accreditation guidelines. • Maintain HR policies, SOPs, and employee handbooks. • Handle audits (statutory, NABH/JCI) and ensure documentation readiness. 6. Payroll & HR Operations • Oversee payroll processing, attendance, and leave management. • Manage employee records, contracts, and HRIS data. • Coordinate benefits administration (PF, ESI, insurance, etc.). 7. Workforce Planning & Administration • Monitor staffing ratios (doctor:nurse:patient) in line with industry standards. • Handle contract staffing, vendor management, and roster approvals. • Support management in budgeting and cost control related to manpower. Skills & Qualifications Education • Bachelor’s or Master’s in HR, Business Administration, or equivalent. • MBA/PGDM in HR preferred. Experience • 5–10 years of HR experience, with at least 2–3 years in a hospital/healthcare setting. • Strong understanding of clinical and non-clinical workforce requirements. Key Skills • Knowledge of labor laws and hospital accreditation standards (NABH/JCI). • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to manage conflict and maintain confidentiality. • Proficiency in HRIS tools and MS Office.
