The HRBP will serve as a strategic partner to designated business units within our higher education domain, aligning HR practices with business objectives. This role will be responsible for understanding the unique talent needs of academic and administrative departments, providing comprehensive HR support, and driving initiatives that foster a high-performing, engaged, and inclusive work environment. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Business Partnering: Develop a deep understanding of the business strategy, goals, and operational challenges of assigned departments within the higher education domain (e.g., specific academic schools, administrative functions like admissions, student affairs, research). Partner with department heads and leadership teams to identify HR needs and develop tailored HR solutions that support their objectives. Act as a trusted advisor and coach to managers and employees on HR-related matters. Participate in business unit meetings and contribute an HR perspective to strategic discussions. Translate business requirements into effective HR strategies and initiatives. Talent Management: Collaborate with hiring managers to develop effective recruitment and selection strategies for faculty, academic staff, and administrative roles within higher education. Participate in the recruitment process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding. Support talent development initiatives, including identifying training needs, facilitating learning programs, and supporting career development pathways for academic and administrative staff. Manage performance management processes, ensuring fair and consistent application of performance reviews and feedback mechanisms. Identify and address talent gaps and develop strategies for talent retention. Employee Relations: Serve as a point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to managers and employees. Investigate and resolve employee grievances and conflicts in a fair and timely manner, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting open communication and employee engagement. Provide guidance on disciplinary actions and performance improvement plans. Compensation and Benefits: Collaborate with the HR team to administer compensation and benefits programs, ensuring they are competitive and aligned with the higher education sector. Provide guidance to managers and employees on compensation-related matters. Participate in salary surveys and benchmarking activities relevant to the higher education industry. HR Policies and Compliance: Ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures across assigned business units. Stay up-to-date on relevant labor laws and regulations, particularly those impacting the education sector. Support HR audits and compliance efforts. Organizational Development: Identify opportunities for organizational development initiatives to improve team effectiveness, communication, and overall organizational health within assigned departments. Support change management initiatives within the business units. HR Metrics and Reporting: Track and analyze key HR metrics to identify trends and provide data-driven insights to business leaders. Prepare regular HR reports for management. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Proven experience (typically 5-8 years) as an HR Business Partner or in a similar strategic HR role. Strong understanding of the higher education landscape, including the unique challenges and opportunities related to faculty, academic staff, and administrative roles. Comprehensive knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment laws in India. Experience in managing the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, and offboarding. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities. Ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
