The Hotel Manager will be responsible for the pre-opening and day-to-day operations of a 24-room upscale hotel located near Cubbon Park, Bangalore. The role demands a proactive, entrepreneurial professional who can lead the hotel to operational readiness, drive room sales (especially corporate and OTT segments), and ensure an exceptional guest experience. The hotel operates under the owners brand and is managed by Turnstone Hospitality under a white-label management contract. Food & Beverage outlets are leased out to third-party operators; therefore, the Hotel Managers F&B responsibility will be limited to managing the breakfast service for in-house guests and coordinating with external tenants for smooth guest operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pre-Opening Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the owner, project team, and Turnstone Hospitality to ensure smooth handover and readiness for operations. - Set up operating systems, SOPs, checklists, and brand standards for front office, housekeeping, and breakfast service. - Recruit, train, and onboard hotel staff, ensuring readiness before launch. - Assist in vendor selection for linen, housekeeping materials, breakfast supplies, and operating equipment. - Ensure all statutory licenses and pre-opening compliances are in place. - Develop pre-opening budget and forecast in consultation with the corporate office.
2. Operations Management
- Oversee day-to-day hotel operations including front office, housekeeping, maintenance, and breakfast service. - Maintain high levels of cleanliness, service quality, and guest satisfaction. - Ensure efficient coordination with the leased F&B operators for guest requirements and seamless communication. - Monitor operating costs, utility consumption, and implement cost control measures. - Manage night audits, cash handling, and revenue reconciliation in coordination with the corporate finance team.
3. Sales & Marketing
- Drive corporate sales, travel agent tie-ups, and OTT (Online Travel & Tour) channel management to achieve occupancy and ADR targets. - Build and maintain strong relationships with local corporates, consultants, travel desks, and relocation agents in Bangalore. - Oversee hotel listing and performance on OTAs (Booking.com, Expedia, Go-MMT, etc.) ensuring rate parity, visibility, and guest reviews are well managed. - Collaborate with Turnstone Hospitalitys central sales team for promotions, packages, and rate strategies. - Track and analyze market trends, competition pricing, and customer preferences.
4. Guest Experience & Quality
- Be the face of the hotel welcome guests, handle VIPs, and resolve complaints promptly. - Monitor guest feedback across digital platforms and implement corrective actions. - Ensure breakfast quality and presentation meet guest expectations. - Regularly audit rooms and public areas to maintain high service and cleanliness standards.
5. Administration & Reporting
- Prepare daily occupancy, revenue, and performance reports. - Monitor payroll, duty rosters, and productivity of the small team. - Maintain records of vendor contracts, licenses, and maintenance schedules. - Coordinate with the Turnstone corporate office for financial reporting, marketing initiatives, and strategic decisions.
- Graduate or Diploma in Hotel Management from a recognized institute. - Minimum 58 years of hotel experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role in small to mid-scale hotels or serviced residences. - Pre-opening experience preferred. - Strong understanding of corporate sales, OTA management, and guest relations. - Good administrative, communication, and leadership skills.
- Familiar with Bangalore corporate market will be an advantage.
