Hostel Warden

Position Title:

Job Purpose:

To ensure the smooth functioning, safety, discipline, and overall welfare of students residing in the hostel. The Hostel Warden is responsible for maintaining a secure, hygienic, and conducive environment that supports students academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Hostel Administration & Supervision

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the hostel, including maintenance, cleanliness, and discipline.
  
• Ensure proper accommodation allocation and record keeping of boarders.
  
• Maintain an updated register of hostel students, attendance, and visitors.
  

2. Student Welfare & Discipline

• Monitor the well-being, behavior, and safety of all hostel residents.
  
• Enforce hostel rules and ensure students adhere to school policies and timings.
  
• Counsel students and address any grievances or behavioral issues promptly.
  
• Conduct regular roll calls and night checks.
  

3. Coordination & Communication

• Liaise with parents/guardians regarding student matters, leave permissions, and emergencies.
  
• Coordinate with school management, security staff, and housekeeping for hostel operations.
  
• Assist in planning hostel activities that promote discipline, camaraderie, and a homely atmosphere.
  

4. Health & Safety

• Ensure medical attention is provided promptly when required.
  
• Maintain first aid facilities and monitor students health and hygiene standards.
  
• Supervise the safety, security, and cleanliness of hostel premises at all times.
  

5. Record Keeping & Reporting

• Maintain daily records of attendance, complaints, maintenance issues, and incidents.
  
• Prepare periodic reports on hostel functioning and submit them to the management.
  

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Education, Management, or Social Work).
  
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in hostel management or student welfare (school/college setting preferred).
  
• Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  
• Ability to manage adolescents with empathy, firmness, and professionalism.
  
• Proficiency in record keeping and basic computer operations.
