Job Summary
The Hospital Pharmacy Auditor is responsible for ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency of all pharmacy operations within the hospital. This includes stock control, regulatory adherence, dispensing processes, storage and documentation, patient safety, and alignment with organizational policies and statutory requirements.
This role is critical to:
· Prevent stock leakages and pilferage
· Maintain patient safety and legal compliance
· Ensure SOP adherence and operational excellence
· Strengthen overall pharmacy governance framework
Key Responsibilities
1. Inventory & Stock Management Audit
· Conduct physical verification of stock and match with system data.
· Check for expiry and near-expiry drugs, ensuring FEFO/FIFO practices are followed.
· Audit high-value and controlled substances (H, H1, X, NDPS) stock registers.
· Verify segregation of returned, expired, or quarantined stock.
· Audit inward/outward movement of stock between central store and satellite pharmacies.
2. Regulatory & Legal Compliance
· Ensure valid Drug Licenses and pharmacist registrations are displayed and renewed.
· Check compliance with NDPS Act, Schedule H/H1/X drugs, and documentation requirements.
· Verify prescription compliance — dispensing only against valid prescriptions.
· Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and storage conditions as per Drug & Cosmetic Act.
3. Operational Process Audit
· Audit dispensing workflow (IPD, OPD, Emergency, OT, etc.) for compliance with SOPs.
· Check prescription validation, dose checking, and documentation before dispensing.
· Ensure segregation of Rx and OTC drugs and compliance with restricted items.
· Verify the handling of returned medicines and credit notes.
· Monitor pharmacist-to-patient ratios and service time standards.
4. Storage & Safety Compliance
· Verify temperature control and cold chain maintenance logs.
· Check for proper storage conditions (temperature, humidity, lighting, segregation).
· Inspect pharmacy cleanliness, pest control records, and fire safety equipment.
· Ensure hazardous materials are stored and handled as per safety protocols.
5. Documentation & Record-Keeping
· Ensure maintenance of drug registers, inward-outward registers, and audit logs.
· Verify calibration and maintenance records of equipment (e.g., refrigerators).
· Audit controlled substance usage and reporting records.
· Ensure NABH/JCI documentation and traceability requirements are met.
6. SOP & Policy Compliance
· Review pharmacy processes against approved SOPs.
· Identify gaps and deviations in operations.
· Audit pharmacist adherence to counseling, documentation, and ethical practices.
· Ensure regular training and competency checks are conducted.
7. Risk Identification & CAPA
· Identify and flag operational, compliance, and safety risks.
· Recommend Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
· Follow up with pharmacy management to ensure closure.
· Contribute to process improvement and cost optimization initiatives.
8. Reporting & Coordination
· Prepare and submit detailed audit reports with evidence.
· Present key findings to management, quality, and pharmacy leadership.
· Coordinate with IT, Finance, Procurement, Quality, and HR teams for cross-functional issues.
· Support external audits (NABH, JCI, Drug Inspector visits, etc.).
Required Skills & Competencies
· Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations in hospital settings.
· Familiarity with regulatory requirements (NDPS, Drugs & Cosmetics Act, NABH/JCI).
· Experience with inventory and controlled substance audits.
· Excellent analytical and observation skills.
· Strong documentation and reporting ability.
· Good communication and coordination skills.
· High integrity, ethics, and confidentiality.
Qualification & Experience
· B.Pharm / M.Pharm / Pharm.D (preferred)
· Additional qualification or certification in Healthcare Quality / Hospital Administration is an advantage.
· 3–5 years of experience in hospital pharmacy operations or pharmacy audits.
· Exposure to NABH / JCI accredited hospitals is desirable.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹65,000.00 per month
