Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a proactive Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Project Engineering team. The primary focus of this role is to support the design and procurement activities for cement plant projects. You will be responsible for creating intelligent 3D models using Autodesk Plant 3D based on vendor drawings, developing technical specifications, and managing the technical aspects of the vendor qualification process. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of cement plant equipment and be proficient in a collaborative, document-controlled environment.

Role and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. 3D Modeling & Design (Primary Focus)

• Create, update, and manage intelligent 3D models of cement plant systems and equipment using

  Autodesk Plant 3D.

• Generate and extract detailed general arrangement (GA) drawings, isometrics, and layout drawings from the 3D model for engineering and construction use.

• Integrate vendor-provided equipment drawings and data sheets into the master Plant 3D model.

2. Technical Specification & Procurement Support

• Develop and prepare detailed Technical Specifications and Data Sheets for various cement plant equipment (e.g., crushers, mills, kilns, conveyors, hoppers).

• Assist in floating Request for Quotations (RFQs) to potential vendors and suppliers.

• Support the project team in the technical evaluation of vendor proposals and in the final vendor selection process.

3. Vendor Drawing Management & Technical Queries

• Review and assess vendor technical data sheets and drawings for accuracy and compliance

  with project specifications and international standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI).

• Prepare, issue, and manage Technical Queries (TQs)

  to resolve discrepancies, clarify ambiguities, and gather critical information from vendors.

• Maintain a log of all TQs and ensure timely resolution to keep the project on schedule.

4. Documentation & Collaboration

• Ensure all mechanical design documents, models, and drawings are accurately maintained and version-controlled

  in the SharePoint document management system.

• Coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Process, Civil, and Electrical departments, to ensure design integrity.

• Prepare and maintain project-related documentation as required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• BE/ BTech Mechanical Engineering or related field. or a related field (or equivalent)

Preferred Skills

• 2 to 5 years

  of hands-on experience in mechanical design, preferably within the

  Cement, Heavy Machinery, or related Capital Projects industry

  .

• Strong proficiency in Autodesk Plant 3D is a mandatory requirement.

  Proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting is expected.
• Experience in creating technical specifications, data sheets, and supporting the RFQ process for industrial equipment.
• Proven ability to read, interpret, and check vendor drawings and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with document management systems;

  proven experience working within a SharePoint environment is highly preferred.

• Basic knowledge of cement plant processes and major equipment is a significant advantage.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills for effective interaction with vendors and internal teams.
