Job Description Automotive Connector Design & Development 1. Role Overview Experienced in the design and development of automotive connectors, focusing on robust product performance, manufacturability, and compliance with automotive standards. Capable of handling complete product lifecycle activities from concept design to production support. 2. Key Responsibilities 2.1 Connector Design & Development • Design and develop automotive electrical connectors and related components. • Create 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using Unigraphics NX. • Ensure designs meet functional, packaging, and performance requirements. 2.2 DFM (Design for Manufacturability) • Apply DFM principles to ensure designs are optimized for mass production. • Collaborate with tooling, manufacturing, and process engineering teams to validate feasibility. 2.3 DFMEA • Prepare and participate in DFMEA reviews. • Identify potential failure modes and implement corrective/preventive design actions. 2.4 Plastic Moulding Technologies • Strong understanding of plastic injection moulding processes related to connector components. • Address mould design constraints, gate positions, wall thickness, draft analysis, and flow considerations. 2.5 GD&T • Apply GD&T techniques to define critical dimensions, datum structures, and tolerances. • Ensure drawings meet ASME/ISO standards. 2.6 Tolerance Stack-Up & Analysis • Perform tolerance stack-up calculations to ensure fit, form, and functional compliance. • Validate manufacturability and assembly feasibility through tolerance simulations. 3. Tools & Software Skills • Unigraphics NX – Strong modelling, drafting, and assembly capabilities. • Familiar with PLM/PDM systems. 4. Strengths & Competencies • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Knowledge of automotive standards and validation processes. • Cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, quality, and testing teams. • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet timelines
