The Opportunity : Reporting to the VP of Engineering, we are seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to lead our engineering organization in Kolkata, India and be part of the senior engineering team across the UK, Ireland, Australia and India. In this pivotal role, you will build and nurture a highly engaged and productive workforce while evolving our SDLC practices to achieve excellence in continuous delivery of high-quality, secure, and performant products. Your leadership will be crucial in furthering India's position as a prime engineering center and continuing Bright's strategic investment in the region for long-term growth and innovation. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Engagement Provide visionary leadership to the Indian engineering teams Build and foster a highly engaged and productive workforce through meaningful work, growth opportunities, and recognition Drive a culture of high performance and innovation, enhancing and growing our India operation as an engineering centre of excellence Mentor and develop engineering managers and team leads, promoting professional growth and succession planning Oversee resource planning, recruitment, and retention strategies to build and maintain a world-class engineering organization Engineering Excellence & Delivery Evolve and enhance our SDLC practices to achieve excellence in continuous delivery Champion the implementation of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing Drive the adoption of practices in agile methodologies, software development, and project management that best fit the teams you oversee Implement metrics and processes that enhance productivity without compromising quality Promote innovation and continuous improvement in technologies, tools, and processes Product Quality & Excellence Ensure timely delivery of high-quality, secure, and performant products that we are proud of Oversee the architecture, design, and development of scalable, secure, robust, and efficient software solutions Implement comprehensive quality assurance and security practices throughout the development process Establish metrics and KPIs to monitor and improve team performance, product quality, and operational efficiency Ensure adherence to compliance, security, and regulatory standards across all engineering activities Strategic Leadership Lead India's continued growth as a prime engineering center and key strategic investment for Bright Collaborate with global leadership to define technical roadmaps and align engineering goals with business objectives Work closely with product management, sales, customer support, and other stakeholders to align engineering efforts with market needs Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between global teams to drive unified product development Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain the company's competitive edge Requirements Minimum of 10 years in software engineering, with experience in a leadership role. Proven track record of delivering complex software products for the web. Deep understanding of software engineering, security and performance principles, architecture, and design patterns. Ability to lead, inspire, and motivate engineering teams. Strong strategic thinking and decision-making capabilities. Demonstrated experience in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. Excellent English verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and global stakeholders. Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution abilities. Self-driven with a passion for technology and innovation. Adaptable to a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
