Role Overview:

Head of Engineering/ Chief Maintenance Manager- Line Maintenance

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee all

    line maintenance activities

    across domestic and international stations to ensure aircraft serviceability and on-time performance.
  • Ensure compliance with

    DGCA, EASA, and manufacturer maintenance procedures

    .
  • Monitor daily maintenance operations, ensuring efficient rectification of defects and minimizing aircraft downtime.
  • Drive the implementation of

    lean maintenance practices

    and process improvements to optimize manpower and resources.

Technical Management

  • Supervise troubleshooting, defect rectification, and certification activities performed by engineering teams.
  • Review and approve maintenance documentation, defect reports, and MEL (Minimum Equipment List) releases.
  • Ensure timely execution of

    scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks

    in coordination with base maintenance and planning teams.
  • Oversee

    tooling, equipment calibration, and spares availability

    at all line maintenance stations.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure adherence to all

    regulatory, safety, and quality standards

    set by DGCA and OEMs.
  • Lead audits, surveillance checks, and safety investigations as required.
  • Promote a strong

    safety and compliance culture

    across the engineering workforce.

People & Performance Management

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, technicians, and certifying staff across multiple locations.
  • Plan manpower deployment, training, and development for licensed engineers and AMTs.
  • Establish

    KPIs and performance monitoring systems

    for operational efficiency and safety metrics.

Strategic & Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Base Maintenance, Planning, CAMO, Materials, and Flight Operations to ensure seamless coordination.
  • Participate in

    strategic planning for fleet induction, modification programs, and maintenance cost control

    .
  • Engage with OEMs, MROs, and third-party vendors to ensure optimal support and cost efficiency.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of

    Airbus and Boeing narrowbody/widebody fleets

    .
  • Excellent understanding of

    regulatory frameworks (DGCA CAR, EASA Part 145)

    .
  • Proven ability to lead large, multi-location maintenance teams.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in

    maintenance management systems (AMOS, TRAX, or similar)

    .

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering

    (mandatory).
  • DGCA AME License

    (preferably on Airbus/Boeing type).
  • Minimum

    15–20 years of experience

    in aircraft maintenance, with at least

    5 years in a senior leadership role

    in line maintenance or engineering operations.
  • Prior experience in a

    scheduled airline or MRO environment

    is preferred.
