Head Maintenance

1. Maintenance Strategy & Planning

• Develop preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance strategies for all sheet metal processing equipment.
• Prepare annual maintenance budgets for machines, spares, tools, and infrastructure.
• Establish and monitor maintenance KPIs: MTTR, MTBF, breakdown %, maintenance cost/ton, etc.
  

2. Equipment & Machine Management

• Ensure optimal uptime of equipment such as:
• CNC laser cutting machines
• CNC press brakes & shearing machines
• Mechanical/ hydraulic presses
• Robotic & manual welding stations
• Powder coating/painting lines
• Compressors, cranes, conveyors, and utilities
• Authorize and supervise calibration, machine leveling, and alignment processes.
  

3. Team Leadership

• Lead, train, and mentor maintenance engineers, technicians, and electricians.
• Allocate manpower for shifts and emergency breakdown needs.
• Evaluate team performance and implement skill-development programs.
  

4. Breakdown Management

• Ensure quick diagnosis and resolution of machine failures.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement long-term corrective actions.
• Maintain breakdown logs and deploy reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) practices.
  

5. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, statutory compliance, and environmental regulations.
• Oversee implementation of lockouttagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Maintain documentation for audits: ISO, OHSAS/ISO 45001, and customer site audits.
  

6. Vendor & Spare Parts Management

• Manage vendor relationships for machine servicing, spare parts procurement, and AMC contracts.
• Optimize spare parts inventory through ABC analysis and consumption tracking.
• Negotiate rates for parts and services to control maintenance costs.
  

7. Continuous Improvement

• Drive automation, energy-saving initiatives, and OEE improvement projects.
• Collaborate with production, quality, and design teams to enhance machine performance.
• Implement TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) practices.
  

8. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain MIS reports on machine uptime, breakdowns, maintenance cost, energy usage, and spare inventory.
• Present monthly performance updates to senior management.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering.
• 12 - 15 years of maintenance experience in a sheet metal or heavy fabrication industry.
• Minimum 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong troubleshooting knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with CNC, PLCs, robotics, and automation.
• Leadership, communication, and team-motivation skills.
• Knowledge of TPM, Kaizen, 5S, Lean Manufacturing.
• Ability to analyze technical drawings, manuals, and electrical schematics.
