Job Description

Purpose: Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety policies and programs across three plants, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and fostering a strong safety culture. The role includes risk assessment, audits, training, and emergency preparedness to minimize workplace hazards and ensure a safe working environment. Roles & Responsibilities: 1. Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in alignment with industry regulations and company standards. 2. Ensure compliance with all statutory safety requirements (Factories Act, OSHA, PESO, PCB, etc.) across all three plants. 3. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring timely corrective actions. 4. Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures. 5. Coordinate with government and regulatory authorities for safety compliance, licenses, and certifications. 6. Identify unsafe conditions and implement control measures to mitigate risks related to hazardous chemicals, equipment, and processes. 7. Develop and enforce SOPs for critical safety operations, including handling hazardous chemicals, confined space entry, and emergency response. 8. Ensure adherence to permit-to-work systems, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and other safety protocols. 9. Monitor safety aspects during erection, commissioning, and maintenance activities. 10. Implement best practices for process safety management (PSM) and hazard identification. 11. Foster a proactive safety culture through awareness programs, behavioral-based safety (BBS), and employee engagement. 12. Conduct safety training programs, toolbox talks and awareness sessions for employees and contractors. 13. Organize and oversee mock drills, fire drills and first-aid training to enhance emergency preparedness. 14. Lead safety committee meetings and drive initiatives to improve workplace safety. 15. Ensure strict safety compliance for contractors, suppliers, and visitors working within plant premises. 16. Conduct pre-job safety briefings and ensure proper safety gear and procedures are followed 17. Develop and implement emergency response plans, ensuring availability of fire-fighting equipment, first-aid kits, and PPEs. 18. Respond to and manage crisis situations, ensuring effective coordination with emergency services. 19. Conduct periodic safety drills and ensure preparedness for hazardous material (HAZMAT) incidents. 20. Plan and manage safety budgets, ensuring procurement and maintenance of PPEs, fire-fighting systems, and safety equipment. 21. Monitor the upkeep and expiry of safety equipment, first-aid kits, and emergency response tools. Reporting Manager: Head Operations Qualification: PG Diploma in Fire and Industrial Safety (RLI or equivalent preferred) / ME Industrial Safety Engineering
