Requirements As the Director, Hands-On RD, you will be the visionary leader driving our research and innovation efforts reporting into the CPTO. You will set the strategic direction for breakthrough AI technologies while maintaining an active role in hands-on technical research and development. This role requires balancing high-level strategy with deep technical engagement to transform cutting-edge ideas into market-leading products. Key Responsibilities: - Strategic Innovation Technical Leadership: o Define and execute an ambitious RD strategy that leverages state-of-the-art AI technologies to drive business growth. o Lead by example through direct involvement in research, coding, and rapid prototyping when needed to overcome critical technical challenges. - Executive Team Leadership Mentorship: o Build, inspire, and manage a high-performing multidisciplinary RD team, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and technical excellence. o Mentor senior researchers and engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous skill development. - Research-to-Product Transformation: o Collaborate closely with product management, engineering, and business units to transition innovative research into scalable, production-ready solutions. o Oversee technical due diligence and integration to ensure seamless product transitions. - Innovation Management Technical Wizardry: o Champion the adoption of novel AI, machine learning, and software techniques, ensuring the organization remains at the forefront of technological advancements. o Serve as the expert resource for solving complex technical challenges and validating breakthrough innovations. - Industry Engagement Thought Leadership: o Represent the company at industry conferences, publish influential research findings, and cultivate strategic partnerships with academic and industry leaders. o Stay ahead of emerging trends to continuously inform and enhance our RD roadmap. - Operational Excellence Performance Metrics: o Develop and implement performance metrics to evaluate the success of RD initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and breakthrough innovations. o Oversee budget management, resource allocation, and project prioritization in alignment with corporate objectives.
