CORPORATE OFFICE, Kolkata, West Bengal, India Department BESS PLANNING & COORDINATION Job posted on May 16, 2025 Employment type REGULAR JOB DESCRIPTION SECTION I: BASIC INFORMATION ON THE ROLE Position Name GM - Planning Engineer Function Project Line of Business Regional Business Grade E2 Reporting to Functionally Administratively COO COO Roles Reporting into No. of employees Role Description SECTION II: JOB SUMMARY To lead the planning and coordination of BESS projects across multiple stages—engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning—ensuring alignment with strategic goals, timelines, and budgets under the direction of the COO. SECTION III: DO – KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE Perspective Responsibility Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Planning & Coordination Lead project planning and scheduling activities across all BESS projects. Develop and maintain integrated master schedules, aligning engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning timelines. Coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, procurement, construction, O&M) to ensure smooth execution. 2. Project Monitoring & Reporting Track project progress using tools like MS Project or Primavera (P6). Generate weekly/monthly dashboards and reports for the COO and executive leadership. Identify bottlenecks and initiate corrective measures. 3. Technical Coordination Interface with EPC contractors, OEMs, consultants, and internal engineering teams to resolve technical and logistical issues. Ensure that design, procurement, and construction phases are well integrated. 4. Risk & Resource Management Identify potential risks in planning and execution phases and propose mitigation strategies. Support resource allocation decisions and optimize utilization across projects. 5. Compliance & Standards Ensure adherence to industry standards (IEC, IEEE, UL), local regulations, and HSE policies. Support documentation, quality control, and audit readiness. Learning & Development Provides inputs for preparing the planning and monitoring inventory SECTION IV: DELIVER – KEY OUTPUTS / RESULTS FROM THE ROLE Key Performance Indicators (KPI) What are the measurable indicators for the role? Measurable Deliverables Project Planning Tools (Primavera P6, MS Project) Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management Familiarity with energy storage technologies (Li-ion, flow batteries, etc.) Budgeting and financial planning awareness Risk assessment and mitigation SECTION V: DISPLAY – KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS In this section, please mention the qualification, technical skills and capabilities which are essential to execute the role. PhD in xyz Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical / Power / Energy Systems Engineering. Technical Skills MS Office & Project, Primavera Knowledge of SAP is preferred Experience levels required to execute this role E.g. 2-4 yrs of experience as a salesman in abc market Specific Experience 10+ years of construction scheduling experience. Over all Experience 10+ years Behavioral skills / competencies required for the role. E.g. Attention to detail Behavioral Skills PMP, Prince2, or equivalent project management certification preferred. Minimum 10–15 years of experience in project planning and coordination, with at least 5 years in energy storage, solar, or renewable energy sectors. Hands-on experience with BESS systems, SCADA, EMS, and grid integration is highly desirable.
