Job Description

Role & responsibilities

1. General Ledger & Accounting Operations

  • Oversee and manage all general ledger accounting functions including journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure the accuracy of financial postings across entities and projects in line with Ind AS / IFRS.
  • Maintain and periodically review the chart of accounts and cost centers.

2. Accounts Receivable (AR) & Accounts Payable (AP) Controls

  • Monitor and control AR aging and collections; ensure timely invoicing, credit management, and dispute resolution.
  • Oversee AP processing, ensuring timely payments, accurate recording of vendor invoices, and compliance with payment terms.
  • Review and approve key AR/AP reconciliations, ensuring accuracy of outstanding balances.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls for AR and AP to prevent errors, fraud, or misstatements.
  • Collaborate with Treasury for cash flow planning, vendor payments, and client collections.

3. Financial Close & Reporting

  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to timelines.
  • Review trial balance, P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements; provide variance analysis and commentary.
  • Support management reporting and group consolidation processes.

4. Revenue Recognition & Project Accounting

  • Ensure proper recognition of IT services revenue (T&M, fixed bid, or milestone-based projects) in line with Ind AS 115 / IFRS 15.
  • Monitor WIP, unbilled revenue, deferred revenue, and project cost allocations.
  • Partner with Delivery and Project Finance teams to reconcile project accounting and ensure accurate reporting.

5. Audit, Compliance & Controls

  • Coordinate with statutory and internal auditors and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and accounting regulations.
  • Strengthen internal financial controls and SOPs across GL, AR, and AP functions.

6. Process Improvement & Automation

  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities in GL, AR, and AP operations.
  • Collaborate with IT and ERP teams to optimize accounting systems and reporting workflows.

7. Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor the GL accounting team, including AR/AP specialists.
  • Support finance leadership in strategic projects, system implementations, and policy updates

Preferred candidate profile

  • 8 to 10 years of experience, with at least 3 years as a GL Controller or in a similar role in IT / ITES / Technology services.

  • Experience managing multi-entity accounting, AR/AP, and consolidations.

  • Advanced Excel and financial analytics skills.
