Role & responsibilities Job description Job Description Internal Audit (Fleet Monitoring - Fresher)Position : Internal Audit – Fleet Monitoring (Fresher) Department : Internal Audit Location : Tambaram Employment Type : Full-time 1. Objective To monitor and audit fleet vehicle operations in the field, track vehicle movement, verify fuel consumption, and ensure compliance with maintenance and operational standards to control costs and improve efficiency. 2. ResponsibilitiesField Monitoring & Inspections Conduct daily field visits to monitor vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules. Verify vehicle logbooks, fuel slips, and GPS reports on-site for discrepancies. Identify unauthorized vehicle usage, over-speeding, and route deviations. Conduct surprise audits at vehicle yards, fueling stations, and work locations. Fuel & Maintenance Audit Physically cross-check fuel purchase records with actual consumption and mileage. Inspect vehicle conditions to ensure scheduled maintenance is followed. Verify vendor invoices for repairs, spare parts, and servicing. Identify potential fuel pilferage or misuse and report findings. Compliance & Documentation Ensure fleet vehicles comply with RTO norms, insurance renewals, and pollution control regulations. Maintain and update vehicle registration, insurance, road tax, and permit records. Assist in accident investigations and coordinate documentation for claims. Reporting & Learning Prepare and submit daily reports on fleet performance, fuel efficiency, and maintenance issues. Identify cost-saving measures and suggest improvements based on field observations. Continuously learn and improve technical knowledge of fleet management and auditing. 3. Skills & QualificationsEducational Qualifications ITI in Automobile / Diesel Mechanic / Motor Vehicle Mechanic or equivalent diploma. Freshers or candidates with internship/apprenticeship experience in vehicle maintenance or fleet monitoring preferred. Technical & Field Requirements Must have a valid two-wheeler driving license and own bike (mandatory). Willingness to work in the field and conduct site visits daily. Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance, fuel efficiency, and fleet operations. Knowledge of GPS tracking systems and fleet monitoring tools (preferred). Proficiency in MS Excel for data entry and analysis. Soft Skills Strong observation and problem-solving skills. Good communication and report-writing skills. Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to work. Eager to learn, grow, and take on challenges in fleet monitoring. 4. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Accuracy in fleet monitoring and fuel tracking. Timeliness and effectiveness of on-field audits and inspections. Reduction in fleet maintenance costs and fuel wastage. Compliance with vehicle documentation and audit standards. This role is 100% field-based , suitable for candidates who enjoy working outdoors and learning through practical experience.
