Fitter (DRI) - Sponge Iron Unit

**Job Title:** Fitter – DRI / Sponge Iron Unit

**Department:** Mechanical Maintenance

**Reporting To:** Mechanical Shift Incharge / Maintenance Engineer

**Location:** Siltara Raipur

**Job Purpose:**

To carry out installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment, piping, and rotary machinery in the DRI (Sponge Iron) plant to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operation.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Perform **routine, preventive, and breakdown maintenance** of mechanical equipment such as ID fans, FD fans, screw conveyors, rotary kilns, gearboxes, compressors, and pumps.

* Check and maintain **alignment, coupling, and balancing** of rotary equipment.

* Conduct **inspection of equipment** for wear and tear, leakages, vibration, or abnormal noise and report issues promptly.

* Replace and assemble **bearings, seals, shafts, belts, and chains** as required.

* Assist in **shutdown maintenance activities** including overhauling and replacement of major components.

* Ensure proper **lubrication** of all moving equipment as per schedule.

* Maintain **spares and tools** inventory and ensure proper use and recordkeeping.

* Follow all **safety procedures and PPE requirements** during maintenance jobs.

* Support engineers in **installation and commissioning** of new equipment.

* Keep proper **maintenance records and logbooks** updated.

* Cooperate with operations and electrical teams for **coordinated maintenance** and timely plant restart.

**Skills & Competencies:**

* Good knowledge of **mechanical systems** used in DRI kilns and auxiliary sections (coolers, compressors, conveyors, etc.)

* Understanding of **preventive maintenance schedules** and mechanical drawings.

* Ability to **troubleshoot mechanical faults** quickly and safely.

* Basic understanding of **welding, gas cutting, and fabrication** work.

* Strong adherence to **safety norms and housekeeping standards**.

**Qualification & Experience:**

* **Qualification:** ITI – Fitter trade

* **Experience:** 2–5 years (for skilled fitter) in a **DRI / Sponge Iron / Steel Plant** mechanical maintenance department.

* **Preferred Exposure:** Rotary kiln, cooler, and auxiliary mechanical system maintenance.

**Work Conditions:**

* Plant-based, shift duty (rotational)

* Exposure to high temperature and dust-prone areas

* Requires physical fitness and readiness for emergency maintenance

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹17,000.00 - ₹24,000.00 per month
