Job Description: Field Service Engineer – Surveillance Systems

Position Overview

The Field Service Engineer (Surveillance) will handle installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CCTV cameras, NVR/DVR systems, network infrastructure, access control, and related security equipment at client sites. The role requires strong technical expertise in surveillance systems and the ability to manage field operations efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and configure IP/Analog CCTV cameras, NVRs, DVRs, encoders, decoders, and related surveillance equipment.
  • Conduct site surveys, plan camera layouts, and prepare technical BOQs as required.
  • Perform preventive maintenance of all surveillance systems, including cleaning lenses, checking connectivity, storage health checks, and firmware updates.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to camera connectivity, NVR failures, hard disk failures, network issues, power supply issues, and third-party integration.
  • Work closely with project teams for new installations, upgrades, and commissioning of large surveillance projects.
  • Configure networking components including switches, routers, POE switches, and wireless devices.
  • Ensure proper cabling (CAT6/Fiber) routing, testing, and termination standards.
  • Provide first-level support during system downtime and ensure timely resolution within SLA.
  • Maintain accurate field reports, service logs, and client sign-offs after each visit.
  • Train end-users on system operation, playback, backup, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Follow safety standards, OEM guidelines, and company SOPs at all times.
  • Maintain tools, testing kits (LAN tester, OTDR, multimeter), and company assets in good working condition.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Diploma/Degree in Electronics, Electrical, IT, or related fields.
  • 1–3 years of experience specifically in CCTV/Surveillance installation and service.
  • Strong understanding of IP networking, static/dynamic IP configurations, port forwarding, and VLAN basics.
  • Knowledge of CCTV OEM products (e.g., CP Plus, Hikvision, Dahua, Honeywell, Panasonic, Tyco, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with POE switches, network storage, media converters, and UPS/Power solutions.
  • Ability to read and understand layout drawings, cable routing plans, and schematics.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and customer-handling abilities.
  • Willingness to travel and handle on-site calls independently.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Experience with command center setup and VMS software (e.g., iVMS, Cheetah, Prama, Exacq, Milestone).
  • Knowledge of fiber splicing and OTDR testing.
  • Basic understanding of access control, boom barriers, ANPR, and video analytics.

Work Conditions

  • Field-based role with frequent travel to multiple police stations, corporate locations, or outdoor sites.
  • May require extended hours during critical breakdown situations or project deadlines.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹12,086.00 - ₹20,011.48 per month
